[00:00:00] Chelsea: What about the best sushi that you’ve ever had in Tulsa?
[00:00:03] Thuy: Ooh.
[00:00:04] Chelsea: I feel basic with
[00:00:05] Jodi: my
[00:00:05] Thuy: answer. Yeah. So I, I think I have two answers for that. So I really love the new concept of Mr. Nobu.
[00:00:11] Chelsea: Okay.
[00:00:11] Thuy: But I’m an original Fuji’s eater.
[00:00:14] Jodi: Okay. I
[00:00:14] Thuy: love Fuji when Fuji’s was around and knowing that that was his previous restaurant. Okay. I’m kind of tied to Mr. Newbie, but I also really love in the raw too,
[00:00:23] Jodi: so, yeah. Okay. I was gonna say Yoko Zuna. I love the nutty tie. It’s that. Mm-hmm. It’s got peanut butter and sriracha, and it’s a match made in heaven.
[00:00:33] Chelsea: Okay. Yum. It sounds kind of gross, but I know it sounds
[00:00:38] Jodi: weird, but
[00:00:39] Chelsea: it’s like the peanut butter on the hamburger, you know what I mean?
[00:00:42] Jodi: Yeah.
[00:00:43] Chelsea: Peanut butter and sriracha. I can too,
[00:00:44] Thuy: I think. Okay. She must. Yeah, you might have to like peanut butter. I don’t think I’m a
[00:00:49] Chelsea: love to try it. I love peanut butter. I don’t normally mix it with sriracha.
[00:00:52] Chelsea: Yeah. And fish. But we’ll see. It depends.
[00:01:00]
[00:01:39] Chelsea: Hi. Welcome to Tulsa Is Home. I’m so glad that you’re here listening. Today we have two super special guests. We have Twee Buoy and Jody Smith. They are Tulsa influencers and together with a few other ladies, they run the Tulsa Sub Club account. I want you to follow them. They are full of ideas and we’re gonna talk about it today.
[00:01:59] Chelsea: [00:02:00] Thank you guys for being here.
[00:02:01] Jodi: Thanks for having, for having us.
[00:02:04] Chelsea: Super. Okay, so Jody, where are you from?
[00:02:07] Jodi: Well, I’m originally from Michigan. I’ve lived in Tulsa for over 20 years, so.
[00:02:12] Chelsea: So you’re a total expert? Total? Yes. Where are you from?
[00:02:15] Jodi: MI was born and raised here in Tulsa,
[00:02:17] Chelsea: so Oh, maybe you have one up on Jody.
[00:02:19] Thuy: I am one up on Jody, so, okay.
[00:02:23] Chelsea: How did you guys meet each other?
[00:02:26] Thuy: Okay.
[00:02:26] Jodi: Do you wanna take it?
[00:02:28] Thuy: Yeah. I mean, I honestly think we met through social media.
[00:02:31] Chelsea: Yes.
[00:02:31] Thuy: Um, but specifically we met at an event hosted at Utica Square.
[00:02:37] Jodi: Yes.
[00:02:37] Thuy: A couple years ago. Like
[00:02:39] Jodi: years
[00:02:40] Thuy: ago. Several ago. Yeah. It was an influencer event. And I didn’t really know Jody, but then I saw it.
[00:02:44] Thuy: I was like, oh, I think we could be friends.
[00:02:46] Jodi: Yes. We chatted across the table at this event and then Twee reached out to me and invited me to do a try-on with her. That used, used to be very big back in the day to go to stores and do try ons, and we posted like different heights [00:03:00] and sizes and like how it looked on each of us and yeah,
[00:03:02] Chelsea: because I’m much taller than Jody.
[00:03:04] Jodi: Yeah.
[00:03:04] Chelsea: Much taller.
[00:03:05] Jodi: Very
[00:03:05] Chelsea: much taller. Mm-hmm. What is your Instagram handle?
[00:03:08] Jodi: The Jody Smith
[00:03:09] Chelsea: and yours? Um, um, twe.com. Awesome, awesome. So what is your background Before you were an influencer tweet, what is your background? Oh gosh.
[00:03:17] Thuy: It’s been everything. Yeah. I’ve probably been everything. So, um, my original background is nursing.
[00:03:22] Thuy: I’ve been doing nursing for 20 years.
[00:03:24] Chelsea: Wow.
[00:03:25] Thuy: Um, I worked in the floor, I worked in the clinic, and then I’ve done management for like the last 15 years. And GI is my specialty. I actually just left the hospital in May, officially after. Coming back to the hospital. Jody knows my trials and tribulations about work.
[00:03:37] Thuy: Um, probably I’ve been back and forth three times. She can’t say no, I can’t say anything. Because it’s your
[00:03:42] Chelsea: nurse’s heart,
[00:03:43] Thuy: right? It is. I do have a passion for caring for people, so I can’t say I will never go back, but right now, um, I have switched careers and I actually work in digital marketing now, which has been really fun.
[00:03:54] Thuy: Complete opposite of nursing and um, yeah, I’ve been doing it for a year now. So yes, that’s kind of
[00:03:59] Chelsea: where I’m at. That’s [00:04:00] amazing. Jody, what’s your background?
[00:04:02] Thuy: And then I used to be a first grade teacher, so it was a very short-lived
[00:04:05] Jodi: career. I think it was a year and a half. And um, then I always knew I wanted to stay home with my kids and we had a surprise with Emmy and I’ve been home with her ever since.
[00:04:20] Jodi: So doing Instagram has been a really great, like creative outlet for me and way for me. To work, but still be home with my kids. Mm-hmm.
[00:04:30] Chelsea: That’s awesome. I’m happy to hear that. Okay. What is Tulsa separate club for those who don’t know?
[00:04:37] Thuy: Okay, so I guess I can take this. So Tulsa separate club was kind of an idea I had just kind of something I saw on social media.
[00:04:43] Thuy: People were having like separate clubs and big cities and they were having like girls who brunch and I thought, you know what, that would be really fun to do here locally in Tulsa. But I really didn’t know what that looked like, but I knew that we. As a group of friends, always went to dinner once a month just to kind of [00:05:00] catch up on life.
[00:05:01] Thuy: You know, we’re busy with our kids. And so one day I think I sent a group text and I was like, do you guys wanna start a separate club and we’re gonna call it Tulsa separate club? And I was like, we have to commit. We’re gonna eat dinner once a month. Every month. Yes. And so that’s kind of how it started.
[00:05:15] Jodi: Yes.
[00:05:15] Thuy: And all the girls were on board and we’ve been doing it for almost two years now. Wow.
[00:05:19] Jodi: Yes. Yeah.
[00:05:20] Thuy: And it’s been so fun. I
[00:05:20] Jodi: loved this idea because I always hear about people doing cookbook club and I’m like, the food looks so good. It’d be so fun to get together with your friends. And usually there’s like a theme and you dress up and I’m into all those things, but I’m not into cooking at all.
[00:05:33] Jodi: So trying out new restaurants sounded way better. Yes. It’s like,
[00:05:37] Chelsea: like who would say no? I don’t really think I have time to go out to eat once a month. Yes, I would,
[00:05:42] Thuy: but I felt like it was something we were already doing and we loved to get dressed up. So it was a fun way to like document and we weren’t necessarily like doing reviews on the food.
[00:05:50] Thuy: We just wanted to be really kinda like a fun girls night out, dress up cute, eat good food. So it’s been really fun. It’s,
[00:05:56] Chelsea: it has been
[00:05:57] Thuy: fun.
[00:05:57] Chelsea: Um, who in your [00:06:00] group, how many are there?
[00:06:01] Thuy: So there’s six of us total.
[00:06:02] Chelsea: You wanna give a shout out?
[00:06:04] Thuy: Yes.
[00:06:04] Chelsea: Okay. We’ve got Beth,
[00:06:05] Thuy: yes,
[00:06:06] Chelsea: Emily, Amy, Ann, and May. Yes. And which one of all of you is the most adventurous foodie that’s saying, I’m gonna order the frog legs.
[00:06:15] Thuy: May I
[00:06:16] Jodi: think.
[00:06:17] Thuy: What do you think? Probably may. Um, I’m pretty adventurous. I think Beth is too. Beth. Yeah.
[00:06:22] Jodi: Yeah. Maybe
[00:06:22] Chelsea: Beth.
[00:06:23] Thuy: I think we’re all willing to try something once
[00:06:25] Chelsea: Emily
[00:06:25] Jodi: is the least
[00:06:26] Thuy: we’ll say is least for sure. Yes. She’s
[00:06:29] Chelsea: the vanilla,
[00:06:30] Jodi: she’s
[00:06:30] Thuy: in her box.
[00:06:31] Jodi: We always try to make her take at least a bite. Yes.
[00:06:33] Jodi: And try and
[00:06:34] Thuy: then she ends up
[00:06:34] Jodi: liking it.
[00:06:35] Chelsea: That’s right. And that’s kind of what the people that are following your account should.
[00:06:38] Jodi: Yes.
[00:06:38] Chelsea: Push themselves. Yes. Just a little bit. Exactly. And try some of the things that Tulsa has to offer. So when did this light bulb come on for this collaborative account? It, it does take organization.
[00:06:49] Chelsea: You have to get six people. To agree to meet on the same night. Um,
[00:06:54] Jodi: that’s the hardest part.
[00:06:55] Thuy: Yeah.
[00:06:56] Chelsea: Okay. It’s a
[00:06:56] Thuy: lot of texting back and forth.
[00:06:57] Chelsea: Yeah. And a lot, any rescheduling or
[00:06:59] Jodi: Oh, [00:07:00] yeah.
[00:07:00] Thuy: Um, and there’s times where we all can’t make it and we just still move forward. Okay. So we understand that all six of us can’t make it.
[00:07:05] Jodi: Yeah.
[00:07:06] Thuy: Um, so we try the best to get. As many people as you can, but we try to stay consistent and go every month. Otherwise, I feel like,
[00:07:11] Jodi: yeah,
[00:07:11] Thuy: we kind of jump off the wagon and then, uh, we love sharing the content and that’s why we created our own Tulsa separate club page, so we could document all that on
[00:07:19] Chelsea: there.
[00:07:19] Chelsea: And that’s Tulsa separate club?
[00:07:20] Thuy: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:07:20] Chelsea: It’s the handle.
[00:07:21] Thuy: Yeah. We’re only on Instagram right now.
[00:07:23] Jodi: Yeah.
[00:07:24] Thuy: Um,
[00:07:24] Jodi: and I don’t feel like it, the original idea was to make it an account and like an Instagram.
[00:07:30] Thuy: Yeah. No,
[00:07:30] Jodi: that
[00:07:30] Thuy: wasn’t our goal. Our goal was to actually just. Have an opportunity to wear our cute clothes and go out to eat and have fun.
[00:07:35] Thuy: Honestly. Very simple.
[00:07:37] Chelsea: So you could do it at home too.
[00:07:38] Thuy: Yeah, we could
[00:07:39] Chelsea: like, you know, any person out there can get a cute outfit on, look at your page and then know where to go.
[00:07:44] Thuy: Exactly.
[00:07:45] Chelsea: And it sounds like you guys are friends in real life and Yes. They’re just this group text of gif and
[00:07:51] Thuy: we always make this running joke that sometimes when we’re all working or we’re away from, we’ll come back and there’ll be like a hundred plus text messages.
[00:07:57] Thuy: Back and forth.
[00:07:58] Jodi: What did we used? We used to [00:08:00] call, like when it was you, me and Emily, we used to call it the enablers
[00:08:03] Thuy: chef.
[00:08:04] Jodi: Yes. Because we would send each other purchases we wanted to make and then we would enable one another and be like, absolute. We
[00:08:08] Thuy: would encourage each other. We need to buy that add to cart, buy
[00:08:12] Jodi: right away and then we into That
[00:08:13] Chelsea: sounds like you in my relationship.
[00:08:14] Jodi: Yes.
[00:08:15] Chelsea: Which one of you is the hardest to nail down for availability?
[00:08:19] Thuy: Ooh. Ooh. Probably tweed. Probably me. Yeah. Um,
[00:08:23] Jodi: I’m
[00:08:23] Thuy: a
[00:08:23] Jodi: yes
[00:08:23] Thuy: girl. Like
[00:08:24] Jodi: anytime, any place
[00:08:26] Thuy: I’ll kind of, I could be
[00:08:26] Chelsea: there.
[00:08:27] Thuy: Yeah. I’m kind of a social butterfly. Outside of work, I also have many other obligations, so sometimes it’s hard for me to get away, like
[00:08:33] Chelsea: working at the hospital, saving people’s lives,
[00:08:36] Thuy: stuff like, and then I have, yeah,
two
[00:08:37] Chelsea: Jody’s, like boys
[00:08:38] Thuy: are really busy and I like, have a lot of hobbies.
[00:08:41] Thuy: She is
[00:08:42] Jodi: the most hobbies.
[00:08:43] Thuy: Yeah. Okay. I kind of do like, I do like to learn new things.
[00:08:45] Chelsea: What’s the latest hobby that you’re
[00:08:47] Thuy: starting? Gosh, my two favorite things right now is playing Mahjong.
[00:08:50] Chelsea: Okay.
[00:08:50] Thuy: And, um, she’s a teacher also. Ong Club. Yes. Oh, just another career
[00:08:57] Jodi: path.
[00:08:59] Thuy: Just one of my [00:09:00] other jobs at this digital marketing doesn’t work out for me.
[00:09:02] Thuy: Um, and I also like, this is gonna sound so grandma, but I do love to needle point.
[00:09:06] Chelsea: Who doesn’t love to needle point.
[00:09:07] Thuy: It’s like the hot new thing. Yeah.
[00:09:08] Chelsea: Needle pointing.
[00:09:09] Thuy: It is fun. It’s very therapeutic.
[00:09:11] Chelsea: And there’s a
[00:09:12] Thuy: real community in Tulsa for that too.
[00:09:13] Jodi: Yes, they have. Themed events and
[00:09:16] Thuy: parties. Yeah, it’s like you can turn your brain off and not really have to think, which you know, I think all day.
[00:09:20] Thuy: So,
[00:09:20] Chelsea: okay. So people need to follow you if they’re kind of going down that path.
[00:09:23] Thuy: I
[00:09:23] Chelsea: wouldn’t
[00:09:24] Thuy: necessarily follow you ’cause I don’t know if I’m the best teacher, but No, but you could enable you to make purchases for sure.
[00:09:28] Chelsea: I’m enabling you. Here I am. They
[00:09:30] Thuy: teach you the wrong way, but we’ll have a good time
[00:09:33] Chelsea: regardless.
[00:09:33] Chelsea: So you are the girls that are. Um, the girls to look at for all things entertainment in Tulsa. Yes. Like shopping, laughing. Mahjong. Needle. Needle. Point, point. What a thrill. Let’s talk about some of the highlights that Tulsa has to offer. Okay? Um, and since we have just ladies think of one of the best girls nights, either with your supper club or with your other girlfriends, do you have a happy, happy girl’s night memory?
[00:09:56] Chelsea: You wanna share where you went?
[00:09:57] Jodi: Jenny? Okay, so [00:10:00] I think it was last year we did a progressive dinner at Utica Square. Mm-hmm. And it was so much fun. Yes. That was like one of my favorite girls nights I’ve ever done. So we started at Wild Fork for Cocktails. Yes. Mm-hmm. And then we moved to, we just went all around the square for everything I think.
[00:10:16] Jodi: Um, we
[00:10:16] Thuy: went to Bar Sarah,
[00:10:17] Jodi: bar Sarah for apps. Mm-hmm. We went to PF Chang’s for salad and like. Wontons or something. Yes. And then Polo Grill and Flemings for dessert. Yes. Did I hit ’em all?
[00:10:27] Thuy: Yes.
[00:10:28] Jodi: Um, but we dressed up in the most gaudy pink valentine’s. Yes.
[00:10:33] Thuy: I mean,
[00:10:33] Jodi: you
[00:10:34] Thuy: did.
[00:10:34] Jodi: Yes.
[00:10:34] Thuy: You could miss us out there and we just kind of be bumped all around
[00:10:37] Jodi: you.
[00:10:37] Jodi: The square. It was perfect. It was so
[00:10:39] Thuy: fun.
[00:10:39] Jodi: I definitely think. Girls should add that to their list.
[00:10:43] Chelsea: Yeah, recreate that. Nice.
[00:10:44] Jodi: Yes. Yeah,
[00:10:44] Chelsea: for sure. Are there some places you’d recommend for like a Mother’s Day brunch or a high tea?
[00:10:50] Thuy: Um, I love orange. Oh, good. And their French toast is absolutely amazing. They have like this foamy syrup situation [00:11:00] that is, I’ve never had it anywhere else.
[00:11:01] Jodi: I forgot about that one. That one’s so good.
[00:11:03] Thuy: And I could just live off that French toast. Mm-hmm. It’s so
[00:11:05] Jodi: good.
[00:11:05] Thuy: I love French
[00:11:06] Jodi: toast. I was gonna say Soma, uh, the Brute Hotel has a restaurant on the rooftop. Yes. And they make like tableside powdered donuts that are Oh, yes. So, so good. And they’re still warm.
[00:11:16] Jodi: Yes. And there’s a breakfast sandwich that.
[00:11:19] Chelsea: Table side. Matt and I are obsessed with powdered donuts. Yes. See, these are the things that not everybody knows about. Yeah.
[00:11:23] Jodi: Mm-hmm.
[00:11:24] Chelsea: Okay. What about it’s holidays? You wanna cook a whole holiday meal and it can be a little overwhelming. Would you ever choose like a certain restaurant to cater to your home?
[00:11:34] Jodi: That sounds lovely. I’ve never done that. Have you?
[00:11:36] Thuy: You know, I actually have, I actually love to cook.
[00:11:39] Chelsea: Okay.
[00:11:39] Thuy: And so we do a lot of cooking for the holidays at home. Um, my husband’s also a great cook too, so you do it all that kind of helps the situation. But catering, gosh, I didn’t, I don’t know. I haven’t, I really haven’t done that.
[00:11:51] Thuy: I used to like,
[00:11:51] Chelsea: I like barbecue, I like to bring in
[00:11:54] Thuy: barbecue. Oh, barbecue’s the best. We love, we love to smoke meat. ’cause uh, I feel like that feeds a crowd in [00:12:00] and, um, I’ve done like little j’s, they have those ches to go, I’ve done that for like, if it’s a brunch mm-hmm.
[00:12:05] Jodi: At my house. Um, everything, all their pastries are so,
[00:12:09] Chelsea: and little J’s is super cute right now.
[00:12:10] Chelsea: That is like deep place to be. Yeah. It’s huge now. Mm-hmm. The fire. Okay, so let’s say you’re celebrating something super special. Someone’s pregnant, or this is a big anniversary and you wanna spend a little bit more.
[00:12:23] Thuy: Mm-hmm.
[00:12:24] Chelsea: Like maybe, um, the budget is kind of bigger. Where are you going when you’re gonna be a big spender?
[00:12:30] Chelsea: I
[00:12:30] Thuy: like that.
[00:12:31] Chelsea: Mm. Where are you going?
[00:12:32] Thuy: Um, I like, okay. I love Hemingways.
[00:12:35] Chelsea: Mm.
[00:12:36] Thuy: It is, um, delicious. I think their steaks are really good. Um, their apps, they have like this. Asparagus situation. That’s delicious. If you like asparagus, I wasn’t a big fan, but theirs is just really good.
[00:12:47] Chelsea: Okay.
[00:12:47] Thuy: Uh, Baron’s on first.
[00:12:49] Chelsea: Oh, I love this.
[00:12:50] Thuy: So good. I
[00:12:50] Chelsea: haven’t been that Baron’s Little. What’s It’s like a cereal.
[00:12:54] Thuy: Oh,
[00:12:54] Chelsea: what is it?
[00:12:55] Thuy: I don’t think I’ve, that
[00:12:55] Chelsea: it’s their dessert and it tastes like Fruity Pebbles or something. Oh, I don’t think it’s [00:13:00] some sort of dry ice milk.
[00:13:02] Thuy: Okay. SI
[00:13:03] Chelsea: have to try
[00:13:04] Thuy: that next time. ’cause I love Fruity Pebbles.
[00:13:05] Chelsea: It’s crazy. It might be Lucky Charms.
[00:13:07] Chelsea: It’s some cereal sensation that the milk. I think it’s nitrous milk. Pebbles. It’s smoking. I was
[00:13:15] Thuy: like confused.
[00:13:16] Chelsea: Oh my goodness. It blew my mind.
[00:13:18] Thuy: Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I’m gonna have to try that. I, um, I’ve not been there. I the fries and the dumplings. Wow. So good.
[00:13:24] Chelsea: Oh, what about those little, uh. Those little like black beans in little ice cream cones.
[00:13:31] Chelsea: Literally have the dessert
[00:13:33] Thuy: because
[00:13:33] Chelsea: No, no, that was not a dessert. That was, it just comes in a little bitty waffle cone and it’s black beans at
[00:13:38] Jodi: bear. It’s
[00:13:39] Chelsea: wild.
[00:13:40] Jodi: I to check that out,
[00:13:40] Chelsea: I was,
[00:13:41] Jodi: I need to put that on my list. I was, say mahogany. That’s just my thing. You mahogany. You just can’t miss,
[00:13:46] Chelsea: can’t, can’t miss with
[00:13:47] Jodi: mahogany.
[00:13:47] Jodi: Yeah. It’s so good. I love it.
[00:13:49] Chelsea: So now let’s pretend like someone got a promotion or maybe you decided you were gonna stop. Working at the hospital. Where are you going? Retirement. For a happy hour party. [00:14:00] Yeah. You’re like, let’s do a happy hour. Where are we going for happy hour.
[00:14:03] Jodi: I would go to courts and commons.
[00:14:05] Jodi: To be honest, this is my brother-in-law’s, um, business. It’s a pickleball, courts and a food hall.
[00:14:10] Chelsea: Okay.
[00:14:10] Jodi: Yes. And all the food is absolutely delicious, but they have a really good happy hour. They have some good apps and their drinks are amazing.
[00:14:17] Chelsea: Okay. I love that. And I’ve. Tried some of those cocktails and they are, and especially

[00:16:58] Thuy: have been to that somewhere that I, I ly wanna go. [00:17:00] Yes. But I haven’t been. Yes.
[00:17:00] Thuy: That place is absolutely stunning. Um. Um,
[00:17:04] Chelsea: anytime of year.
[00:17:05] Thuy: I think it, summertime is probably really busy, so depending, they have a lot of, um, pools and things of that nature, but a lot of people there visiting in the summer, I would probably go off season. It’s just really cozy. You could do walks. Yeah. Um, cute.
[00:17:17] Thuy: I just wanna ride, ride, bike down there. Some of the houses come with little golf carts. You could golf cart around. They have a little, um, country mart. Little food trucks. So it’s really cute. It looks
[00:17:28] Jodi: like, um,
[00:17:28] Thuy: it’s seaside. Yeah. It’s like seaside, but within, you follow?
[00:17:32] Jodi: Mm-hmm.
[00:17:32] Chelsea: You don’t have to drive 16 hours
[00:17:33] Thuy: to get there.
[00:17:34] Jodi: No, no. Just
[00:17:34] Thuy: like
two.
[00:17:35] Jodi: We’ve done bow in the past. Yeah. And I feel like that’s, what is that three hours or something? And it,
[00:17:42] Chelsea: so what’s your staycation when you’re not leaving Tulsa? Like,
[00:17:45] Jodi: I love a staycation. Hey,
[00:17:47] Chelsea: she loves a staycation

[00:17:51] Chelsea: Okay. Yeah.
[00:17:51] Jodi: The
[00:17:51] Chelsea: mayo.
[00:17:52] Jodi: That’s where we stayed on our wedding night.
[00:17:54] Jodi: So we actually have done a staycation, like on an anniversary, and it’s just,
[00:17:59] Thuy: yeah,
[00:17:59] Jodi: [00:18:00] so luxurious at the Mayo.
[00:18:01] Thuy: We’ve done a, we’ve done a mom’s night out at the Mayo Post, BOK concert. Ooh. We just go to the Mayo and just,
[00:18:06] Jodi: yeah.
[00:18:07] Thuy: Just go sleep and DoorDash, taco Bell or something. I don’t know.
[00:18:11] Chelsea: Straight from the supper club straight.
[00:18:13] Chelsea: The Taco, DoorDash, taco Bell,
[00:18:15] Jodi: you
[00:18:15] Thuy: know like
[00:18:16] Jodi: sometimes
[00:18:17] Thuy: post concert, it just

[00:18:28] Jodi: There’s also the, there’s also um, 21 and a half. Have you been, there i’s a boutique hotel downtown and we’ve stayed there a couple times.
[00:18:35] Jodi: For a staycation, it’s more like a suite, like you have a little kitchenette. It’s got. A lot of charm like brick wall and I don’t know, it is just real close to everything downtown. So
[00:18:46] Chelsea: fun. So maybe
[00:18:46] Jodi: fun
[00:18:47] Chelsea: if you wanna do like a surprise anniversary gift, you could book a little. Yes. This is Hotel 21,
[00:18:53] Jodi: 21 and a half,
[00:18:54] Chelsea: 21 and I think
[00:18:55] Jodi: it’s called.
[00:18:56] Chelsea: Okay. Anything that you can think of where the service was just [00:19:00] like, wow, they went above and beyond and that kind of put you on the spot ’cause. I’m sure everyone is doing
[00:19:05] Jodi: great. Customers Iactually feel like we got great service at mfi.
[00:19:09] Chelsea: Mm-hmm
[00:19:09] Jodi: When we went there, the chef like came in and was explaining

[00:19:13] Thuy: Dishes. The chef, there’s his name is Sam.
[00:19:16] Jodi: Mm-hmm.
[00:19:17] Thuy: Um, and I think he studied in France or no, Italy. Italy’s a

[00:19:21] Thuy: it’s authentic
[00:19:23] Chelsea: France, Italy.
[00:19:25] Thuy: Either way the vibes are good, but uh, he went to culinary school, I know out of the country, chef Sam. Chef Sam Time. Yep. Should go check him out. Was there anywhere
[00:19:35] Jodi: else that you were thinking?
[00:19:36] Thuy: I mean, I feel like we always get great service. Yeah. Uh, anywhere we really go, people are very Ava June.
[00:19:41] Jodi: Yes.
[00:19:42] Thuy: Ava June have really good. We tried, uh, they recently launched a breakfast menu that we got to try out and the service was great. The food was great.
[00:19:50] Chelsea: Mm-hmm.
[00:19:50] Thuy: Um, yeah. Really cool vibe
[00:19:51] Chelsea: there. I’m not gonna ask you who had bad service.
[00:19:54] Chelsea: I’m not gonna do that. No, don’t
[00:19:55] Thuy: do
[00:19:55] Chelsea: that. No, we’re not doing that.
[00:19:55] Thuy: There’s no such thing
[00:19:56] Chelsea: as such thing. Okay. Jody, why do you choose. To make [00:20:00] Tulsa home?
[00:20:01] Jodi: Um, definitely the people. Okay.
[00:20:04] Chelsea: That’s
[00:20:05] Jodi: good answer. Yes. Good
[00:20:06] Chelsea: answer.
[00:20:06] Jodi: Good answer.
[00:20:07] Chelsea: Good
[00:20:07] Jodi: answer. I feel like the southern hospitality here is just so good. Um, obviously I said I was raised in the north and it’s completely different, like the way people look you in the eye and greet you when you walk in places and talk to you.
[00:20:21] Jodi: But anyway, I just feel like friends and family that live here, I would never wanna leave.
[00:20:26] Chelsea: Oh.
[00:20:26] Thuy: So
[00:20:26] Jodi: yeah.
[00:20:27] Chelsea: Why do you make Tulsa home? Because this is where you’ve always been, so you have nowhere else to go. That
[00:20:30] Thuy: truly is the answer. Like I don’t really know if I know anything different than Tulsa. I was born and raised here, but I mean, the people are so nice.
[00:20:37] Thuy: My family’s here, the community. I mean, Tulsa hasn’t done anything wrong to me, so I love it. I feel like Tulsa is, this is
[00:20:44] Chelsea: home,
[00:20:44] Thuy: you know, it’s home, but it has everything I need, but still has kind of small city vibes. It does in a way, it’s
[00:20:50] Jodi: easy living.
[00:20:51] Thuy: I can still, it’s not, I places within 15 to 20 minutes and I’m not stuck in traffic for an hour.
[00:20:55] Jodi: Yes,
[00:20:56] Thuy: we love it and yeah.
[00:20:57] Chelsea: Okay. This is the part of the show [00:21:00] that we call Ready Set, rapid.
[00:21:01] Thuy: Oh,
[00:21:02] Chelsea: understand. I’m gonna ask you questions and you just do your best. You can give, you can give two answers or one answer.
[00:21:09] Thuy: Okay.
[00:21:09] Chelsea: Hopefully two answers.
[00:21:10] Thuy: Okay.
[00:21:11] Chelsea: Okay. Is there a place of business that you’ve seen outside of Tulsa that you really, really wish would come?
[00:21:17] Chelsea: Yes. Which I would say like Trader Joe’s back in the day.
[00:21:19] Jodi: Yes.
[00:21:20] Chelsea: I’m so glad they’re here. Place of business that you wish would come here?
[00:21:23] Jodi: Okay. Immediately I think of true food. Yes. I’m like desperate to have a true food.
[00:21:28] Chelsea: Mm-hmm.
[00:21:28] Jodi: Good. I recently had to go to OKC for something and I went to, um, flower Child.
[00:21:33] Chelsea: I love that place.
[00:21:34] Jodi: Oh my gosh. We need like an aesthetically pleasing Healthy Eats place. Is
[00:21:39] Chelsea: that too much to ask?
[00:21:40] Jodi: Yes. I
[00:21:41] Chelsea: need a flower child. I love true food. I think I had true food. Um. On Thanksgiving last year. I think I ran in there. Oh, you did? You’re
[00:21:49] Jodi: lucky
[00:21:49] Chelsea: girl. I ran in there for something and I picked up like a waffle randomly.
[00:21:54] Chelsea: This was in Austin, so I would love to have a, it’s
[00:21:56] Jodi: like very unique it,
[00:21:58] Chelsea: but it’s all pretty [00:22:00] healthy. Yes. Mm-hmm. Like beans and a waffle cone,
[00:22:02] Jodi: A ice cream cone. Butternut squash beef,
[00:22:04] Chelsea: like beans and a waffle cone. What? That
[00:22:06] Thuy: pizza’s so
[00:22:07] Chelsea: good. It one
of
[00:22:07] Thuy: my favorites.
[00:22:08] Chelsea: What pizza?
[00:22:08] Thuy: Butternut squash pizza. It’s a butternut squash pizza and it seasonal because it’s true.
[00:22:12] Thuy: True food. True food, but it’s seasonal. So only when butter nose squashes. But it’s amazing. Seasonal, it’s amazing in
[00:22:17] Chelsea: season. Anything you
[00:22:18] Thuy: can
[00:22:18] Chelsea: think of.
[00:22:19] Thuy: Um, for me it’s a coffee shop, which is surprising for me. But I was in LA a few weeks ago for a wedding in La la Land.
[00:22:25] Chelsea: Oh.
[00:22:26] Thuy: Their coffee is just so good. Oh, wow.
[00:22:28] Chelsea: The bright yellow.
[00:22:29] Thuy: Yes. It’s just so, so good.
[00:22:31] Chelsea: Okay. We need a la la land here.
[00:22:32] Thuy: Yeah. Okay.
[00:22:33] Chelsea: Okay. For sure. What about the best sushi that you’ve ever had in Tulsa?
[00:22:38] Thuy: Ooh.
[00:22:39] Chelsea: I feel basic with
[00:22:40] Jodi: my
[00:22:40] Thuy: answer. Yeah. So I, I think I have two answers for that. So I really love the new concept of Mr. Nobu.
[00:22:45] Chelsea: Okay.
[00:22:46] Thuy: But I’m an original Fuji’s eater.
[00:22:49] Jodi: Okay. I
[00:22:49] Thuy: love Fuji when Fuji’s was around and knowing that that was his previous restaurant. Okay. I’m kind of tied to Mr. Newbie, but I also really love in the raw too,
[00:22:58] Jodi: so, yeah. Okay. I was gonna say [00:23:00] Yoko Zuna. I love the nutty tie. It’s that. Mm-hmm. It’s got peanut butter and sriracha, and it’s a match made in heaven.
[00:23:08] Chelsea: Okay. Yum. It sounds kind of gross, but I know it sounds
[00:23:13] Jodi: weird, but
[00:23:14] Chelsea: it’s like the peanut butter on the hamburger, you know what I mean?
[00:23:17] Jodi: Yeah.
[00:23:18] Chelsea: Peanut butter and sriracha. I can too,
[00:23:19] Thuy: I think. Okay. She must. Yeah, you might have to like peanut butter. I don’t think I’m a
[00:23:24] Chelsea: love to try it. I love peanut butter. I don’t normally mix it with sriracha.
[00:23:27] Chelsea: Yeah. And fish. But we’ll see. It depends.
[00:23:29] Thuy: And fish. It depends. Yeah.
[00:23:31] Chelsea: What is the best dessert that you’ve had? Most amazing dessert in Tulsa.
[00:23:34] Thuy: Hmm. Ooh. Um, okay. So Cheevers has that ice cream ball. Yeah. Which is pretty darn amazing.
[00:23:41] Chelsea: Mm-hmm.
[00:23:41] Thuy: Uh, rise. They’re dessert souffles, especially the raspberry one.
[00:23:45] Chelsea: I love.
[00:23:46] Thuy: I don’t know if it’s seasonal, but it’s very unique.
[00:23:48] Thuy: Good. It’s so good.
[00:23:49] Chelsea: Okay. Raspberry souffle and rice. Um,
[00:23:51] Jodi: juniper has a really good bread pudding. I love, love bread pudding.
[00:23:55] Chelsea: Oh, I love, love one.
[00:23:56] Jodi: So good. Yes.
[00:23:57] Chelsea: I love bread pudding. Okay. [00:24:00] If you owned a restaurant, what kind of food are you serving?
[00:24:03] Jodi: Oh gosh. Um, what you normally I would say it’s gonna have to be Mexican because I have a thing for queso, but that’s
[00:24:11] Chelsea: true.
[00:24:12] Jodi: Um, I’m on a new path in life, a new healthy living path. So it would be something Yeah, in the realm of true food, flower child.
[00:24:20] Chelsea: Okay.
[00:24:21] Jodi: But a cute
[00:24:22] Chelsea: maybe cashew queso. Um
[00:24:25] Thuy: Oh. Which is actually really good. I don’t have,
[00:24:26] Chelsea: try that. I love cashew. Queso Ste. Cashew queso. It’s so good. We can help you. Okay. Expand your horizons.
[00:24:34] Thuy: I think for me would definitely be a Vietnamese restaurant.
[00:24:37] Chelsea: Okay.
[00:24:37] Thuy: Just, I know that’s my heritage, but the food is just so good.
[00:24:40] Chelsea: Tulsa Vietnamese fusion.
[00:24:42] Thuy: Oh,
[00:24:43] Chelsea: it could be like buffalo. Burger. So we’re not
[00:24:47] Thuy: doing peanut butter. That’s
[00:24:48] Chelsea: no peanut butter at that restaurant. What is, alright, here’s a bonus.
[00:24:52] Thuy: I’m not,
[00:24:53] Jodi: what is your restaurant called?
[00:24:55] Thuy: Oh.
[00:24:55] Jodi: Oh my gosh.
[00:24:56] Thuy: I’m definitely calling it twe.
[00:24:57] Chelsea: Okay,
[00:24:57] Jodi: for sure. Why
[00:24:58] Thuy: not?
[00:24:59] Jodi: [00:25:00] Um. I don’t know. Jody’s,
[00:25:04] Chelsea: that is so clever that
[00:25:06] Thuy: you’re complicating me. They’re gonna get confused.
[00:25:09] Chelsea: I love that. Okay. I’m so glad that you guys were here. I love that you had so much information to share, and I know anytime that I’m going on a date night.
[00:25:18] Chelsea: Or a girl’s night, I open up Tulsa Supper Club and I just swipe for the picture of where I wanna go. I love that.
